Action on A505 grass cutting

by stevejarvis on 14 June, 2023

Many people have commented that the grass has been too long at most of the junctions along the A505 – from the Newmarket Road junction in Royston right through to the Slip End junction – and that this makes it difficult for drivers to see when pulling out.

Verges need to be cut at junctions so drivers can see

Whilst there are lots of roadside verges which can be left to grow saving money and emissions and letting the wild flowers grow it is important that they are cut where this is needed for visibility and this did not seem to be happening this year.

Steve Jarvis contacted Herts County Council highways and asked them to make sure that these areas are cut.

They have now agreed that they will do this at all these junctions and the work has been done at some of them already. Now they are on the list they should be kept cut regularly for the rest of the year (and hopefully in future years as well).
