I have just been told that work to repair the hole in Hinxworth Road, Ashwell should start today and should be completed this week (depending on the weather).

It is not just a case of filling the pothole since apparently the base of the road (beneath the road surface) has washed away and there is a danger of it all collapsing. This is why the road has been closed. The section of road affected needs to be dug out and completely reconstructed, which is expected to take around three days to finish.
