I’m pleased to see that a “smiley face” speed indicator sign has now been installed in Baldock Road, Royston. The evidence suggests that there do cut traffic speeds and many drivers say that they are a useful reminder to keep to the speed limit.
I asked for this sign to be installed and funded it from the £90,000 a year Highways Locality Budget that every county councillor has.
Other speed indicator signs have been or will shortly be installed in Rushden, Hinxworth and Graveley. Next year I plan that there will be more installed including London Road in Royston, Newnham and Therfield adding to the existing signs in Ashwell and Great Ashby.
