Planning officers are proposing to completely ignore most responses to the last SNAP consultation – where a majority of people opposed development to the north of Stevenage and the building of a new road from Corey’s Mill to Great Ashby. At a meeting with councillors on 28th October they revealed their proposals suggest that most of the development should be north of Stevenage and that the new road should be built.
The proposals include:
The amount of land required is increased since Stevenage Council want space for “aspirational housing” and a big country park at the Forster Country.
Steve Jarvis said, “The proposals could scarcely be worse. The proposed plans would result in housing engulfing Friends Green and Warrens Green, with a dual carriageway leading to Cory’s Mill. ”
At the moment we only have one illegible copy of the plan, but we will make more details available as soon as we have them.
There is another meeting to consider minor amendments on 24th November after which the proposals will come before the North Herts (and Stevenage) Cabinet. If they are agreed there will be another public consultation early next year.
