Over the last couple of weeks residents have been notified of a proposal to prevent parking on the bend at the entrance to Layston Park and the junction with London Road. These proposals are intended to address safety concerns raised by some residents about the poor visibility when vehicles are parked on the bend.

Quite a number of residents of this part of Layston Park have submitted formal objections to the County Council and some have contacted me as well to let me know their views.

It would be fair to say that opinions on the proposals are divided.

Some residents have asked for the length of the yellow lines to be reduced, whilst others have asked for them to be extended. Some have suggested that there should be a residents’ parking scheme throughout Layston Park, but the current proposals were only intended to address the safety issue on the bend and junction, so that would need to be considered separately.

Now the time for formal objections has closed I hope to be able to talk to the highways engineers about what changes can be made to the proposals in the light of all the comments.
