The County Council, which cuts the roadside grass outside the towns (North Herts Council cuts the verges in the urban areas) is about to start cutting. This has been delayed whilst they sorted out how this can safely be done.

In 34 locations (mainly in North Herts) the verges are only to be cut once in August or September and the cuttings removed. This is acknowledged as the best way to promote bio-diversity and the growth of the wildflowers and other native species.

I am particularly pleased that this is happening following a proposal I made to the council last year.
