County Council to close Royston Young People's Centre permanently

Yesterday evening North Herts council refused a long standing local resident permission to build a house in Weston that they want to live in when they retire. The reason: the Green Belt. This is the same council proposing to move the Green Belt to build 40 houses on the other side of Weston, 900 between Weston and Great Ashby and 900 on the edge of Graveley.
The council will say that this is different because it is all part of the local plan process. But actually the impact on our countryside depends not on the process but on what gets built.
There is no doubt that all the houses proposed and supported by the council will have a much greater detrimental effect than the one they have blocked.
The planners would say that this is the way the system works. Most people just think this is crazy.
